Our Family Dentistry Services Can Keep the Entire Family in Good Oral Health

We offer a variety of family dentistry service to help Santa Clara families to stay in good oral health.  Taking care of your teeth and gums are just as important as staying in shape physically.  Preventative care is the key, as common dental infections can be avoided by having teeth cleanings and dental exams twice a year.  Most people visit the doctor at least once a year and this is no different.  Taking care of your entire body with preventative and diagnostic exams can prevent health conditions later on.

We recommend that parents start to bring their children to the dentist at a young age.  This is important for several reasons.  It helps to prevent cavities so that children can maintain their baby teeth for as long as possible, and it sets a routine of dental care that they can follow throughout their lifetime. By starting early, children will grow up trusting the dentist and not suffer from the dental anxiety that impacts millions of adults.

Family dentistry services encompass preventative care and much more.  If you or someone in your family suffers from a severe toothache we can treat it by removing the infected or decayed area. This will help to stop the pain. Afterwards, we will clean the area to remove any lingering bacteria or debris. A filling will then be used.  When the roots of the tooth become infected, they also need to be removed during a root canal procedure.  A root canal is more of an extensive procedure and in order to strengthen the tooth we typically put a dental crown around the tooth.  This serves as a cap to protect it and make it strong enough to bite down on again.  Both dental fillings and crowns come in natural looking ceramic materials and metal.

For those who have damaged teeth our family dentistry services can help restore them.  Accidents are common so you never know when a tooth will become cracked or chipped in a car accident, workplace injury, or sporting injury.  When this happens we can correct the damage by placing a dental veneer on top.  A veneer is a ceramic shell that looks like a natural tooth.  It is placed on top of the damaged tooth so that it can remain in place.  The veneer is created in a dental lab to match the size, shape, and color of the surrounding teeth and can do much more than correct damage.  It can also be used to close gaps in between teeth, make teeth even lengths, straighten teeth, and to cover dark stains.  Due to its many applications, patients will often have the teeth around the damaged tooth fixed at the same time.

Family dentistry should be an important part of every family’s health care routine.  By visiting the dentist twice a year, we can prevent common dental infections and oral pain.  We can also create beautiful smiles so that everyone in the family can smile with confidence.
