Dental VeneersIf you don’t like your smile, dental veneers can change it.  This holiday season; consider giving yourself a permanent gift – the gift of a new smile.  A beautiful smile can improve your confidence levels and help you to approach life in a new way.  Statistically, a beautiful smile will also change how other people view you.  While most adults don’t like something about their teeth, we have solutions that can help.

As a cosmetic dentist, we recommend that you schedule a consultation so that we can discuss what you don’t like about your smile and the various treatment options.  We provide solutions like teeth whitening, veneers, crowns, dental implants, dental bridges and more.  This enables us to complete full smile makeovers and address all of the issues that you have with your teeth.

Before we can start any cosmetic procedures, we need to make sure that your teeth and gums are healthy enough to do so.  By cleaning and examining your teeth, we can prepare them for additional treatments.  Next, we may recommend that you have your teeth whitened.  If you are getting dental veneers on only one or two teeth, this will be necessary for ensuring that your entire smile becomes white and beautiful.

Veneers can be used to accomplish a variety of things, including:
  • Straightening mildly crooked teeth
  • Closing gaps in between teeth
  • Covering dark stains
  • Restoring damaged teeth

In order to start the process of placing dental veneers, we will first make an impression of your mouth.  The dental lab will use it to create veneers in the right size and shape for your teeth.  They are a thin shell that sits on the surface of your natural teeth, becoming their new front.  Getting the right size and shape is essential for ensuring that they look natural.  During this time, your teeth will need to be prepared by having a portion of the enamel removed, and temporary veneers placed on top in order to protect them.

When the lab is finished, you will come back in to have the temporaries removed and the permanent set bonded in place.  It usually takes a couple of weeks for the process to be completed.  During this time, you will want to be careful with what you eat and how you brush your teeth.  You may feel some temporary sensitivity and want to take oral pain medication as needed. Fortunately, this is only temporary, and your teeth will feel normal in no time at all.

Dental veneers are an excellent solution for patients that want to create a beautiful smile while keeping their natural teeth.  Since the tooth structure remains, there is no need for surgery but your teeth will look entirely new once done.  Many Hollywood stars have used this procedure to improve their smile, and you would never know that their teeth aren’t natural.  If you want to learn more and are considering giving yourself a gift this year, schedule an appointment.  The gift of a new smile is something that you can enjoy both now and for years to come.
